THE MACALLAN: AN EXTRAORDINARY QUEST
It was a night of mystique and adventure with premier whiskey distillery, The Macallan in the building as they celebrated the launch of The Quest Collection: New Global Travel Retail Range Singapore Edition.
Guests were greeted at the lobby with an imposing projection of The Macallan logo onto The Mill’s graffiti covered walls, setting the tone and mystery for the journey to come. Upon entering the event room, guests were enchanted by the gently swirling fog, elegantly dressed guests and lights that all circled the massive, towering four season tree in the center of the room. It was easy for them to forget where they were as the woody scent and unconventional sight transported guests to a land of discovery and adventure.
A lighted bar stood at the corner of the room offering a menu of interesting cocktail selections, all incorporating whiskey from The Macallan Quest Collection. Neighboring the bar was a calligraphist stationed to create bespoke luggage tags made with oak, personalized with each guest’s name written in calligraphy. Next to these, guests were encouraged to pen down their quest for 2018 – this was a move by The Macallan to inspire guests to discover their personal journeys and adventures to come.
Guests were ushered into a 360 degree sensory video presentation room for a custom whiskey tasting. Sounds and sights from projector screens at every corner of their perception ignited an interest for what was in store. Head of Education, Mr Sieste Offringa for The Macallan Quest Collection shared about how he grew up surrounded by exotic whiskey bottles in his home in Scotland. “What do you smell?”, he asked as he guided guests through the four tasters in front of them. A childlike wonder was aroused in the guests as they experienced how flavors paired together can evoke different emotions and thoughts. Guests walked out of the tasting room with warmth and satisfaction in their hearts, just like holding a whiskey glass snuggly in your palm.
The Macallan Quest Collection launch was definitely a party to remember as guests reflected upon the the exciting projects they embarked on in 2017 and what was in store for 2018. The event was every bit as emotionally charged together with the right drink, right place, at the right time.
